August Newsletter

Greetings from The SABSA Institute!

This month, we are extremely happy to bring you several exciting highlights about COSAC Ireland which is taking place in September, the COSAC Patrons programme, as well as an update on The SABSA Institute Forum.

The SABSA Institute is a proud sponsor of the COSAC 2025 Information Security Conference which will take place in Naas, Ireland from 28th September to 2nd October next month. The agenda includes a full SABSA Stream across four days as well as a non-SABSA stream. The SABSA Institute was formed at the COSAC Security Conference by TSI Founders David Lynas, Zika Milenkovic and the late John Sherwood.

COSAC Security Conferences are designed to push boundaries and ideas in Cybersecurity, Privacy, Compliance, Governance, Risk, Business-Driven Security, Architecture, Technology, Cloud, AI and more. These conferences are unique in that they have tracks dedicated to SABSA and highly exceptional because there are limits to the number of attendees, an absence of vendors and sales pitches, and frequent challenges of speaker ideas by attendees in a collegial and safe environment.

At COSAC Ireland this year, you are warmly invited to attend:

  • The SABSA Institute (TSI) Forum: where TSI and the TSI Liaison Group (LG) update. The TSI Forum includes a Question-and-Answer session and an opportunity to meet and interact with some of the TSI Board of Trustees (Directors) and EMEA-NA LG members. This is a great platform to find out more about TSI’s activities to benefit members as well as volunteer opportunities.

Agenda:
·       Introduction to TSI (for non-members)
·       Volunteer Recognition
·       Volunteer Opportunities
·       TSI update
         – Liaison Group updates
         – Working Group updates
·       Question-and-Answer session
·       Networking: Meet some of the SABSA Institute Board of Trustees and Liaison Group Members. This is also a wonderful opportunity for The SABSA Institute and Working Group members to network.

Speakers:
·       Kathleen Mullin – TSI Board Trustee, Chair EMEA & NA Liaison Group
·       Gordon Jenkins – EMEA & NA Liaison Group representative to the TSI Board, Deputy Chair EMEA & NA Liaison Group
·       Glen Bruce – TSI Board Trustee, EMEA & NA Liaison Group Chair Emeritus
·       Robert Campbell – EMEA & NA Liaison Group Member

At the Forum this year, TSI and the LG will also be providing updates, volunteer recognition and volunteer opportunities. We warmly welcome you to join us for coffee and chat on Thursday morning, 2nd October at 8am.

COSAC is a fantastic way to introduce colleagues to SABSA and to also witness and experience how SABSA is being applied by other individuals and organisations. COSAC also has a Patrons programme that provides unique access to register for upcoming Patrons only events and access to exclusive content.

Participation in COSAC is highly recommended for all who would like to learn more about SABSA and Cybersecurity firsthand. For registration or more information, please visit: https://cosac.net

  • The approach to providing a common language and common structures with which to cross domain boundaries and enhance collaboration
  • Resolve the specialist risk dilemma and provide stakeholders with an answer to the “So what?” questions

Event details:   9 September 2025 (Tuesday) from 5.30pm to 9pm

SABSA London Study Group
Late September | Central London (Venue TBC)

Working on a SABSA paper? Stuck on a security architecture challenge? Or just need a few smart minds to bounce ideas off?

Join us for an informal SABSA Study Session in late September in central London. Whether you’re refining an exam submission, tackling a tricky security architecture project at work, or looking for some fresh perspective, this is a potential chance to connect with others doing just the same.

No slides, no pressure – just support, shared thinking, and a bit of good old-fashioned nerdy chat. One may not have all the answers – but with a few of us in the room, we just might!

Register your interest by contacting Simon Cross today.

TSI Digital Credentials Program

The SABSA Institute launched our Digital Credentials Program earlier in February this year and has issued SABSA Chartered Architect credentials globally, including retroactively to certification holders.

Digital Badging allows The SABSA Institute Chartered Architects to:

– Clearly outline the steps taken to achieve your #SABSA Certification
– Easily share your digital credentials online
– Utilize a reliable method for real-time credential verification
– Discover direct connections between your skills and job opportunities

If you haven’t received your Digital Badge, the primary reason is likely that your registered email address, where the badge was sent to, is no longer accessible, such as a previous employer’s email. If that is the case, fret not; we have a solution on hand.

Should you happen to find yourself unable to access your old email address or locate your digital badges email from TSI and Credly, simply fill out as much information as possible in our Contact Support form, and we will assist to send your credentials to the correct email address.

For help or further information, please go to https://sabsa.org/digital-badge-support/

TSI Training and Certification

SABSA training is available through the TSI network of Accredited Education Partners (AEPs). Our training covers all levels in the SABSA training continuum from Foundation to Practitioner.

Certification by TSI is competency-based and requires candidates to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities required to use the SABSA method in the real world. SABSA Certification Examinations can only be taken after completion of training provided by a TSI AEP.

For more details, please refer to the TSI AEP website.

Upcoming Courses

A schedule of all upcoming SABSA-approved (non-certification based) and SABSA official (certification-based) courses can be found on our website here.
