SABSA Greetings from Edmonton, Alberta

MacEwan University

Our Accredited Education Partner, David Lynas Consulting, ran its SABSA Foundation training course in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada earlier this month and here are some of the highlights:

– Hosted at the MacEwan University downtown campus

– 15 students represented from the provincial government, federal government, universities, and consulting firms

– Engaging real-world examples and class discussion applying the SABSA concepts to modern security programs

– A collaborative experience, one of the students (André D.) even made up some mock questions for the class during the final day

– Engagement with the class was really high and they achieved better than 90% pass rate.

Spearheaded by Thomas Wong Matthews, Senior Director, Cyber Security & Chief Information Security Officer of MacEwan University, the SCF course was instructed by SABSA Instructor Steven Bradley, with a special guest appearance by SABSA Master Heather Wildgrove.

Thomas, who first conceptualised the idea of having the SCF course in Edmonton some 15 years ago, and who has been the principal driver for the SABSA revival in Edmonton last month, strongly encourages all Security Architects to start with the SABSA Foundation training course as early as possible.

“To get a headstart early in your career, attending a foundational course is a very smart thing to do. If Security Architecture is something that interests you, start with self-study and the F1 & F2 courses as early as possible. This would give you a running start and save you so much precious time learning the concepts. Now, with this knowledge, you’ll be all set to apply the SABSA methodology to all future information security projects that you’re a part of.”

– Thomas

SABSA Master, Heather Wildgrove, made a guest appearance at the SCF course in Edmonton to offer her advice, inspiration and encouragement.
